Today's adventures included the Farmer's Market and going to a park with our friends.  Through the Double Love Mother's of Twins group I have met another mother of twin boys who are like 5 days older than Buddy Boy and Baby Doll.  So we spent some time at the park with the babies.  I learned the hard way that Buddy Boy is very adventurous.  He almost cracked his skull but thanks to the quick reaction of my friend's sister she caught him before he did!

Quarterly Top 5

Its that time again for me to pick my favorite pictures of my babies for the Quarterly Top 5. Again it was hard to pick just 5 pictures. But here they are:

1.  Baby Doll is having breakfast as I wanted to focus on her afro!

2.  This is Buddy Boy's first time on a swing.  He was looking a little nervous.
3.  As you can see he started to enjoy the swing more.

4.  Baby Doll was spending some time reading one of her books.

5.  My handsome Buddy Boy.  I don't know why I took this picture other than he is just too cute!

Today I was going through the babies' diaper bag and I came across our tickets from the Taste of Chicago.  We went last Sunday and had a good time.  The one thing I don't like is you have to buy tickets for the food.  Then each vendor decides how many tickets they want to charge.  So we were left with about 6 tickets.  So you have to decide to you go back and spend those six tickets or just call it a loss.  I think it will be a loss.

Tonight for dinner we are having lasagna, garlic bread and salad.  So of course I will share the recipe of my semi homemade lasagna.

1-2 lbs of ground beef
1 lb of Italian sausage
pepperoni
1-2 jars of Ragu Robusto Spaghetti sauce
1 small container of low fat ricotta
1 egg
1/4 cup of Parmesan Cheese
lasagna noodles
2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese

Brown the ground beef and sausage.  Drain the fat from the meat.  Add one jar of spaghetti sauce and pepperoni.  In a separate bowl whisk one egg and add Parmesan and ricotta cheese to the egg.  In a dish, spread some of the meat mixture on the bottom of the dish.  Take uncooked pasta noodles and layer on top of meat sauce.  Spread the cheese/egg mixture on top of the noodles.  Sprinkle with mozzarella.  Repeat the layer.  The final layer I pour any leftover spaghetti sauce and add more mozzarella cheese.  Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.  Remove foil and bake for 10 minutes more or until cheese is bubbly.

Enjoy!

Late last night my friend and her family arrived for a weekend visit.  We went out for brunch and shopping at the mall.  Baby Doll is having fun with her "Auntie".

Not a lot of picture taking today.  Baby Girl and now Buddy Boy have what I call summer colds.  I diagnosed them as Dr. Mom.  They both are sneezing, runny noses and coughing.  Baby Doll is slobbering so much I had to dig out their bibs.  Hopefully they will be feeling better tomorrow because we will have weekend visitors and I am pretty sure we will be out and about.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Baby Doll is still a little sick.  Runny nose and slobbering all over the place.  She didn't sleep well which means the whole house did not sleep well.  So no fabulous picture today.

This is a picture of some thing that is on the back of my front door.  Does anybody know what the heck it is?

Baby Doll woke up this morning with a runny nose and is not feeling well today.  So I ran to the back yard and snapped a picture.  This is all I have for today.

It's the first day of summer!  It sure doesn't feel like it.  It is rainy and in the 70s.  Oh well.  On our last trip to the library I got this book for the babies to read about summer since they aren't really able to feel what summer is.

This morning while getting the babies ready for our library trip I saw this ugly bug and it caught my attention.  A few minutes after I took the picture I saw a bird walking around with the bug in its mouth.  I am glad I got the picture when I did!

Happy Father's Day!

The babies and their daddy went for a morning walk in the backyard.  My babies truly have a wonderful father.  I am blessed to have such a good hubby and father for my children.  There are some children who are not lucky to know their father or have a good father.  I was very fortunate to have a good dad too.

So today I salute all the fathers who are there for their families.  We appreciate all you do.

Today we set up the grill and grilled out for my birthday and Father's Day.  I was busy on the grill so I didn't take any pictures.  So the easiest thing to take a picture is of my kids.  Enjoy!

Happy Birthday to me!  Today I celebrate my "25" birthday!  I spent the day with the babies shopping.  Retail therapy is just what I needed!  My hubby surprised me with an Oreo ice-cream cake from Coldstone Creamery.  I am not a big fan of traditional birthday cake but I am a fan of ice-cream!

Today we took a trip to the farmer's market.  It was such a beautiful day.  Last week we didn't get to go due to rain.  After visiting the market we walked along the river and I saw this turtle in the river bank.

School is now in session.  But wait it is summer.

I was inspired by reading another blog, Its Time For More Coffee, to have pre-school with the babies.  So today we colored the letters T and B and we used cheerios to work on fine motor skills.  Buddy Boy didn't care for coloring too much.  He liked eating the crayons.  I am glad they are non-toxic.  Baby Doll colored her "T" exceptionally well.  I used cheerios and had the babies put them in and out of the cup.  Baby Doll chose to eat hers.  But Buddy Boy had fun taking them out of the cup.

On a sad note, I lost a sorority sister to breast cancer today.  She was young and beautiful woman.  I started my Project 365 because of her.  She had started a project and I got inspired by watching her.

I know I have said this before but I love rice!
Rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

So I switched to brown rice because they say it is healthier.  I am pretty sure when I pile a gallon of gravy on it it has lost the healthy-like qualities.  No one told me that brown rice does not cook the same as white rice.  So through trial and error I have finally perfected cooking brown rice.

Years ago my mom taught me how to cook white rice in the microwave.  You cook it in a microwave safe dish and use a 2:1 (Water:rice) ratio.  Cook on high power for 10 minutes and then cook at half power for 15 minutes.  Perfect rice every time.  For brown rice use the same ratio and cook for 10 minutes at high power and 35-40 minutes at half power.  You will have nice fluffy brown rice.

I took the babies for a short walk in our front yard this afternoon.  And lo and behold I found a caterpillar.  I was too scared to pick it up and put it on something so I could take the picture.  So I laid my fat butt on the hot ground to take this picture.  I need a life!

I found these beautiful flowers today when the babies and I walked to the grocery store.  I decided to take a different route.  I am glad I did otherwise I would have had anything to take a picture of.

My neighbors are setting up for a party I see.  We were not invited.  So I was thinking about crashing the party!

I hope they enjoy their party.

I am officially a resident of Illinois.  It only took me 7 months to go do it!  My experience at the DMV was similar to the episode of Martin when he went to renew his license.  Instead of writing about it, watch this clip.  And be sure to insert 2 babies too!  They were with us when we went.

Nana and Papa Bob got this book for the babies.  It is my new favorite book to read with them.  I recommend it to any parent of toddlers.  Buddy Boy can even find the picture of the kitten or the cat and say "Kitty Kat."

One thing you can give your children is the gift of literacy.  Start it at an early age.

Finally with all this cold and dreary weather we had, the flowers finally bloomed.  I took a picture of this same bush back in March.  Check out #84.

We went outside today to enjoy this beautiful 90 degree weather we are having.  What happen to spring?

So I went to Wal-mart today and I picked up some bubbles for the babies.  Well for me to blow the bubbles and see if they would be amazed by it.  Well they were. At least Baby Doll found some amusement  in the bubbles.

A few months ago I visited Regency Beauty Institute to get a pedi and my eyebrows shaped.  I walked out of there looking like a damn fool that day.  By eyebrows were crooked and my toes looked my 16 month old daughter did them!

Regency is a cosmetology school and I used to go there regularly when my good friend was a student there.  She did an excellent job.  So needless to say I wont be going back after my last incident.

So today I got a postcard from the girl who did my services that day asking for my business.  Is she nucking futs???  (yes I said nucking futs.) No she will not be getting my business.  I am not sure how she even made it out of the class and onto the floor.  She was horrible!

I guess that is what I get for trying to save a buck.

I woke up today at 5:00 am.  I haven't done that in some months now.  But today I had to drive an hour away to take my last test required by the state of Illinois to get my teacher license

The requirements in Ohio are so much more easier than Illinois.  So in Ohio I had to take two test:  Principles of Learning and Teaching and Special Education.  In Illinois it is not that simple.  They require a Basic Skills test.  In that test there are four subtest:  Reading Comprehension, Math, Language Arts and Writing.  Each subtest must be passed in order to pass the Basic Skills test.  Then there is an APT test which, I don't know what APT stands for.  But it is like the Principals of Learning and Teaching test.  Then I had to take two separate test on Special Education since that is what my license will be in.

So as of now I have passed all the tests except the Reading Comprehension portion of the Basic Skills test.  So today I got up to drive an hour away to take this last test.  Let's talk about pressure.  I can't get a job until I get licensed and I can't get my teaching license until I pass this test!  Reading comprehension is like my nemesis.  I struggled with it in high school and still struggle today.

Going into taking this test I felt a lot of pressure to pass this test.  That doesn't help when you are taking a standardized test.

I do feel somewhat confident now that the test is over.

My picture is of my admission ticket for my test today.  Let's pray that I will not be retaking this test in the next month.

The weather today was great.  Not too hot, not too cold.

I took the babies to a farmer's market in our neighborhood.  We found some really good things to buy.  The market is located next to a park I had not been to yet.  I have driven past this park but never got out to walk in it.  The park is beautiful and a nice place to take outdoor pictures.  It is along the river so it provides a very nice breeze.  Although the river stank to me, I still enjoyed our walk.  I definitely will go back without the babies to take pictures.  They get mad when I stop to take pictures.

So I had to conquer a fear of mine...Bridges.  I hate driving over bridges or walking over the bridge.  There were at least 3 bridges I had to cross to walk through this park.  So I safely made it over the bridges and I think I could even go back and do it again!

We share our front yard with our neighbors.  I have been wanting to plant some flowers to make our yard look cute but I have the slightest clue on what to do.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that my neighbor beat me to it and planted flowers.  She even planted flowers in the empty pot on our doorstep.  I think this weekend I may try to add more flowers.  I have a bad case of keeping up with the Joneses
